Vortex flowmeters can be used in almost any process section for accurate measurement of liquids, gases and vapors within a wide range of temperatures. Vortex gauges are generally cheap in purchasing and easy to install.
The vortex meters utilize an effect called vortex release around an obstruction in the pipe cross section. The distance between the vertebrae is constant from a certain speed, and thus we get a linear relationship between the number of vortices and the flow rate. The vortexes are detected by a piezoelectric sensor which converts the pressure variations into electrical signals. The microprocessor-based electronics filter and process the signal to standard 4 … 20 mA linearly with the flow rate.
