Turbine flow meters are used for clean gases or liquids. The turbine measures the volumetric flow rate at current operating conditions. The turbine flow meter is normally supplied with the counter and flow computer, also called the volume corrector for calculating the flow rate at the normal conditions for pressure and temperature (eg 0 ° C and 1 atm). To carry out such calculations, temperature and pressure must be measured simultaneously. Flowrate under normal conditions or standard conditions is defined differently in different industries and countries.
Turbine wheels mounted in a defined pipe cross section will rotate proportionally to the flow. The rotation is transmitted to counters and further to encoders for further signal processing.
